The Anambra state House of Assembly has asked the state Governor, Willie Obiano, to immortalise former Minister of Information and Communication and Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Dora Akunyili.
The motion to immortalise Akunyili was moved on Tuesday, September 1, by the member representing Orumba-South constituency, Nikky Ugochuikwu, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development.
She explained that immortalising Akunyili would inspire other citizens of the state to be fully committed in the pursuit of excellence in their various areas of endeavour even as she described the late Akunyili as an icon who rendered selfless service to the country and made Anambra State proud.
It would be recalled that Akunyili died in an Indian hospital on June 7, 2014.
