The saying that you never forget your first love is very true. Firsts are some of the most memorable moments in life, and depending on the situation, your first can either bring you a feeling of happiness or a sense of devastation
Sometimes you just need to walk past your first love no matter the strong connection you had especially when you marry someone else and you want to remain faithful as well as enjoy your marriage.
My name is Sophia. I got married recently to my amiable and loving husband, William, after two years of blissful courtship. I absolutely love my husband but I never imagined that I would cheat on him one day, specifically during our honeymoon but I did when I ran into my first love, Oliver in the same hotel.
I met William on my way back home from a job interview one Thursday afternoon. He almost hit me with his car while trying to pull over to answer a phone call. Immediately, he came down from his car and apologised profusely. We later became friends. A year and a half later, we decided to get married.
When we were having the couple dance at our wedding reception, William whispered into my ears that our suite at Eko Hotel and Suites for one week was ready and awaiting our arrival. I was very happy.
Our first night was packed with fun. I enjoyed every moment with my husband. He made me feel loved and special in every way.
The next day, I decided to go sit by the poolside and admire those swimming since I don’t know how to swim. William couldn’t follow me because he was immersed in a movie he was watching. While I was there quietly sipping my glass of chilled Chapman, I heard someone call my name behind me. When I turned to see who it was, it was Oliver. I was speechless.
When he hugged me, I realized that I still loved him. Oliver was my first love. He stopped all forms of communication nine months after he travelled out of the country in search of greener pastures. I decided to move on with my life after three years of waiting and not hearing from him.
He apologised and asked for my forgiveness. I told him I had forgiven him as I just got married and on my honeymoon. He told me he came on holiday about three days ago and has been staying in the hotel. We exchanged phone and room numbers. Before leaving, he gave me a peck on my cheek.
When I got back to the room, all I could think about was Oliver and how his soft lips pressed against my cheek. Later that evening, Oliver sent me a message to meet him in his room. When William was taking his bath, I quickly sneaked out to meet up with him since his room was just five rooms away.
In order for us to start spending time together every night, Oliver came up with the plan to spike William’s tea or juice with sleeping pills which I foolishly agreed to. William never goes to bed without drinking either a cup of tea or a glass of juice. So that night, eager to see Oliver, without thinking twice, I spiked his glass of juice, stirred and served him.
Immediately William fell asleep, I sneaked off to Oliver’s room. We started off with quarrels and then settled in bed. At 2:00 a.m., I quietly sneaked back to our room and slept beside William. This shameful act continued for two nights. However, on the third night, our plan boomeranged.
Unfortunately, William did not drink the spiked tea I had prepared for him that night. About 10 minutes after I left the room, William walked in on us stark naked on the bed as we forgot to close the door. He shook his head in disappointment and hurled all sorts of unprintable names at me after which he stormed out of the room in tears.
“What have I done? Oliver, my marriage is over even before it started. What do I do?” I wept.
“I will advise you go and beg your husband,” he answered sarcastically.
Then, he stated that he was travelling back that night to his black American wife and two boys. He said he never knew our paths will ever cross again in life. But when he noticed that I still had feelings for him, he decided to have a fling and take a walk and that was exactly what he has done.
I was so ashamed of myself that I didn’t know how to face William. Immediately he saw me, with rage in his voice, he asked, “Don’t I satisfy you sexually? Is my love not enough for you? Sophia, what is my offence? It’s sad that this marriage is over even before it began.”
First thing in the morning, we both left the hotel separately.
How do I even tell my parents, family members and loved ones that I cheated on my husband during our honeymoon? My marriage has ended because of five minutes of pleasure with another man. I regret my actions but what can I do for William to forgive me? Can he ever forgive me?
