Hold FG Responsible If Anything Happens To Ortom – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has warned that the Federal Government will be held responsible if anything happens to his counterpart in Benue State, Samuel Ortom.

He insisted that if Ortom was killed, the country would be plunged into another civil war.

Wike spoke while reacting to an attempt on Governor Ortom’s life by 15 gunmen suspected to be herdsmen, who reportedly trailed him to a riverbank in Tyo Mu along Makurdi/Gboko road in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State on Saturday.

Wike in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri, said: “If you kill Ortom, then be prepared to bury Nigeria. If anything happens to Governor Ortom, the Federal Government will be held responsible and they should be prepared that there will be no more Nigeria.”

Wike recalled how a former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains concluded plans to assassinate him during the 2019 general election.

Wike described it as disturbing the growing trend of threatening the lives of incumbent governors.
