Herder, 22, Sentenced To Four Years Imprisonment For Kidnapping
Mohamodu Zuberu, a 22-year-old herder, has been sentenced to four years imprisonment following the kidnapping of a 13-year-old boy.
The Magistrate Opeyemi Badmus of Osun State Magistrate sitting in Osogbo sentenced the herder to Ilesa Correctional Centre with hard labour.
The convict was said to have committed the offence on August 21, around 3:00 am at Iwari village in Ikoyi, Osun State.
The convict was arraigned and remanded on September 3, 2020.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Idoko John told the court that the convict unlawfully kidnapped one Tunde Abdullahi to an unknown destination in such manner to prevent any person have access to him.
He said the convict demanded N2 million ransom and later reduced it to N300,000.
The convict who had no legal representation pleaded guilty to a count charge of kidnapping levelled against him.
The offence committed is punishable under Section 364(2) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State 2002.
