Help! Should I Date My Sister’s Ex-Boyfriend?

This young lady needs your advice on her relationship. She’s confused if she should go ahead and date her sister’s ex-boyfriend.

Dear Angie,

I am a 25-year-old lady. Recently, my elder sister and her boyfriend ended their five years relationship.

No doubt, he’s a nice person and we are also good friends. While my sister had moved on with her life, her boyfriend is yet to get over their affair.

The problem now is that we have started spending a lot of time together since their break-up and he has grown quite emotionally attached to me. And to be honest, I have fallen in love with him.

Will it be wrong to be in a relationship with my sister’s ex-boyfriend?  What should I do? I need your help.

Hello Rose,

Thank you for reaching out to us. The truth is that when you spend a lot of time with someone, it is easy to start developing feelings for that person. Plus, since you have known him for a long time, he must feel like family to you.

My advice is that if you both feel strongly for each other, then, you should take a bold step and tell your sister about it especially if they ended their relationship in good terms.

However, don’t feel disappointed if she does not accept your relationship with ex bearing in mind that it is the same man she dated for five years, her younger sister wants to bring into the family which may be a bitter pill for her to swallow.
