Glamtush reports that gunmen have reportedly attacked a construction company in Owo, Ondo State.
This online newspaper understands that gunshots were said to have occurred at the site of Craneburg Construction Company, Owo on Wednesday evening.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command , Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the incident but said some people were injured. She also said it could not be confirmed yet if the attackers are terrorists or mere bandits.
She said, ” Tonight, there was a shooting incident at Craneburg Construction Company Owo, Policemen are currently at the scene, victims have been taken to Hospital and they are in stable condition.
”We can not ascertain the casualty figure now and we also cannot say it was a terrorists’ attack with the use of explosives devices but tomorrow( Thursday ) morning, the EOD men of the command would go to the scene.”
The Chief Security Officer of the company, Tubsun Aladeselu confirmed to Channels Television that two of the workers who sustained gunshots injuries during the attack are being treated at a nearby hospital.
He said the attackers, two in number, came in a bus and started shooting sporadically.
They also used an explosive device, he added.
The assailants were said to have arrived at about 9pm while it was raining and most of the workers were indoors.
This attack came seven weeks after some suspected terrorists attacked St. Francis Catholic Church in the community, killing no fewer than 40 worshippers.
