The Lagos State Government has placed a ban on transport unionism in Oshodi area of Lagos State.
This came on the heels of the murder of of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) chieftain, Alhaji Rasak Bello popularly known as ‘Hamburger’.
The suspension order was disclosed at a press briefing today, Monday, June 5, by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Anofiu Elegushi.
The decision will affect all the seven branches of the National Union of Road Transport Workers operating in Oshodi area. The commissioner said while the order lasts, there will be no issuance of tickets or collection of money from commercial vehicles operating in the area.
