Go After Shekau, Gumi, Bandits Before Chasing Me, Sunday Igboho Tells FG

Popular Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho has spoken up after a joint team of DSS, Army and police failed to arrest him on Friday, February 26.

Reacting to a face-off between him and the security agents around the Guru Maharaji bus stop on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in an interview with Punch, Igboho told the Federal Government to go after Boko Haram leader, Ibrahim Shekau and Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi and bandits before coming for him.

Igboho who has been in the news for serving a quit notice on herdsmen in some parts of the South-West, said he was never invited before they attempted to arrest him.

He said, “Go and ask them to invite Gumi and Shekau first before disturbing me. Let them face the bandits instead.”

When asked if he would go into hiding, he said: “What for? I am in the neighbourhood. I cannot run.”

The activist who insisted that he has done nothing wrong in fighting for his people, also revealed that his bank account was initially frozen but the restriction was lifted recently.

Igboho became a popular name since January 2021 after he issued seven days ultimatum to Fulani herdsmen in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo over killings of Yorubas.

After the expiration of the ultimatum, he came back to Igangan and addressed thousands of supporters, leading to tension in the area.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu had first ordered his arrest in January for inciting the populace against the Fulani herdsmen, but the arrest never happened.
