Glamtush reports that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, died yesterday, Thursday, March 14, at the age of 81.
In a statement by his family, his remains will be interred according to Islamic rites today, Friday, March 15, at 4:00 pm at his Aliiwo ancestral home in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
The Olubadan title has always been alternated between the Olubadan line (civil line) and the Balogun line (military line).
The late Oba Balogun reigned for two years. His reign is, however, not the shortest.
Here is a compilation of Olubadans who had the shortest reign, as reported on the Olubadan website – Olubadan.com:
The longest-serving Olubadan is Olubadan Okunola Abaasi Alesinloye Isale Ijebu. He ruled for 16 years, between 1930 and 1946.
