Nigeria’s former Minister of the Economy/Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been appointed an independent non-executive director at Standard Chartered Plc in the United Kingdom.
Okonjo-Iweala would be earning £130,000 yearly for her expertise in financial and development financing
Ngozi, whose appointment takes effect from November 1st 2017 will be working with Standard Chartered PLC, a British multinational banking and financial services company with its headquarters in London and with a presence in 70 countries.
According to the chairman of the bank, José Viñals, in the statement “Ngozi is a globally recognised African figure. She has significant geopolitical, economic, risk and development experience and expertise at a national governmental level and in international organisations, which will provide significant insight and value to the Board. She also has deep knowledge of Africa as well as emerging and developing markets. I am delighted to welcome her to Standard Chartered”
