A fire outbreak, on Wednesday night, destroyed about 16 rooms at the Kano State College of Nursing and Midwifery.

An eyewitness, who is a student of the College, Kadijat Mohammed, disclosed to newsmen that the fire began from the third floor of Sa’idu Fegge Hostel during the Muslim evening prayers at 6:20 pm on Wednesday.

According to her, the fire started from the toilet and quickly spread and destroyed the nearby  16 rooms, explaining that the fire raged for over one hour before the arrival of Kano Fire Service fighters, who eventually put it off.

She added that the fire raged for a pretty long time, which led to the explosion of cooking gas, in some of the rooms.

When contacted, the spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, Seidu Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said the organization is still investigating the cause of the fire and extent of the damage.
