Glamtush reports that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the state after hoodlums looted warehouses of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and others.
The looting saw hundreds of residents break into public and private warehouses storing grains and other commodities and cart them away.
The Governor’s spokesman Humwashi Wonosikou disclosed this in a Sunday afternoon statement.
The governor said, “Effective immediately Sunday, July 30, 2023, I, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, have declared a 24-hour curfew in Adamawa State due to escalating violence by hoodlums attacking people and businesses.
“No movement is allowed, except for essential duties with valid ID. Your safety is our priority – please comply for the well-being of all,” he wrote.
Police authorities have made some arrests in the wake of the development, according to the spokesman of the Adamawa Police Command Suleiman Nguroje.
He said security personnel had been deployed to enforce the curfew.
