FG Begins Distribution Of 1, 000 CNG Conversion Kits To States

FG has begun the distribution of 1, 000 CNG conversion kits to states.

Glamtush reports that the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has begun distributing 1,000 conversion kits across various states to mitigate the effects of the recent fuel subsidy removal.

This online news platform understands that during a news conference in Abuja, Programme Director Michael Oluwagbemi announced that this initiative aims to reduce transportation costs significantly.

Oluwagbemi stated that the program is expected to create over 100,000 direct jobs in the next three years, targeting the conversion of approximately three million vehicles in that timeframe. He emphasized that commercial transport operators will receive conversions at no cost to help lessen the impact of the subsidy removal on transportation expenses.

Additionally, Moses Onate, Warehouse Manager at the PiCN facility in Ibafo, Ogun State presented some of the conversion kits to the media during the event. He stated that the distribution is being carried out under a codename ‘First Come First Serve.’

He said 450 conversion kits had already been given out to states, with an additional 550 awaiting distribution.

Onate emphasised the need for Nigerians to embrace the initiative, highlighting its potential to significantly reduce the cost of fuel to power vehicles.

The conversion kits are designed to enable vehicles to run on compressed natural gas, a cleaner and more affordable alternative to petrol.
