A career in the healthcare industry is physically and emotionally demanding; you’re faced with challenging situations regularly, which makes it hard to feel fresh and fabulous.

You are on the frontline, helping people, saving lives, and putting others first. You do such an amazing and essential job for the people of your country that you deserve to feel equally amazing. If you’ve been a little down in the dumps and lost your glow amongst the busy shifts and hard work, here are ten secrets to help you get back to shining away, feeling fresh and fabulous.

1.      Get Enough Sleep

It is impossible to feel fresh if you aren’t getting enough sleep. Managing your sleeping pattern when you work different shifts throughout the day, night and early hours of the morning can be a challenge, but it is essential for both your physical and mental health that you make sure you get enough sleep. If you are fatigued and tired, it becomes hard to work to the required standard. It will dampen your mood and drain your body even further.

2.      You’re Allowed to Say No

It can be hard to say no to extra shifts when you know your colleagues are just as tired and in need of that time off as well. You can see that they need you to stay on shift to help out because they’re massively understaffed, or you are keen to keep an eye on some of your patients. But you have to remember that it is okay to say no. Overworking yourself can lead to burnout, which is definitely not fresh or fabulous. The same goes for social events and arrangements too.
