Both award-winning platforms were founded by the dynamic Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi.
What began as an acorn has impressively blossomed into an Iroko tree, earning widespread acclaim and praise from all corners.
At a recent press conference, Olori Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi stated that, “the Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) is the premier international African fashion showcase platform that began in London in 2011 at the Gibson Hall to a rapturous ovation and that has over the years, showcased to the world thousands of brands of African heritage from around the globe to an impressive audience counts.
“The grand success of the mother brand, the AFWL, was what birthed the impressive daughter brand, the AFWN with base in Lagos, Nigeria.”
According to her, the London dates for the AFWL 2024 are Friday & Saturday, October 11 & 12, 2024, at the Kensington and Chelsea Conference and Events Centre Hornton Street. London, England. W8 7NX.
While the Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) 2024 would hold between 7 & 9, December 2024, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. It promises to be 3 extraordinary days of fashion & style.
The theme for both editions is “Traditional Textiles and Royal Regalia.”
Olori Ronke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi, is also the founder of the impressive Adire Odua brand with a base in Ile-Ife, Osun State. She is a royal princess of the source (Ile-Ife) as her late grandfather was an Ooni-Orisa himself, whilst also a wife of His Imperial Majesty Alaiyeluwa Oba Adeyeye Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Olofin Adimula Ooni-Orisa of Ile-Ife who is the most colourful and, by extension, the most stylish monarch in Africa. He is also an award winning royal father, and also the able Ambassador Plenipotentiary of both brands. So authenticity is not in doubt at all by any yardstick.
The adire fabric of which Olori Aderonke is a major exponent is actually one of the most ‘authentic traditional fabrics’ from Nigeria that says so much about our great culture and tradition.
So, no wonder the year’s theme is focused on traditional fabrics and royal regalia.
The Ooni has supported the twin brands from when he was an heir to the throne and a businessman and that royal support hasn’t subsided since he ascended on the most revered throne in Africa.
He has always showcased his full support to his hardworking wife (olori), whilst also showing what our culture and tradition means to him as he promotes both at any given opportunity.
According to Olori ,these two events in London & Lagos promises to be the best yet in the series so far.
