The EFCC has declared eight persons wanted over the failed CBEX scheme.

Glamtush reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared eight persons wanted over their alleged involvement in a fraudulent scheme linked to an online trading platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange, better known as CBEX.

A public notice by the EFCC on Friday listed them as Seyi Oloyede, Emmanuel Uko, Adefowora Oluwanisola, and Adefowora Abiodun Olaonipekun.

“The public is hereby notified that the persons whose photographs appear above are wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraud allegedly perpetrated on an online trading platform called Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX),” the EFCC said in the notice released on Friday.

Others named as their foreign accomplices are Johnson Otieno, Israel Mbaluka, Joseph Kabera, and Serah Michiro, whom the EFCC declared wanted.

The move came on the heels of the Federal High Court in Abuja granting the EFCC’s request to arrest and detain persons found promoting the CBEX scheme.

Justice Emeka Nwite issued the order following submissions by the counsel to the EFCC, Fadila Yusuf.

The six promoters named in an ex parte motion dated and filed on April 23 include – Adefowora Olanipekun, Adefowora Oluwanisola, Emmanuel Uko, Seyi Oloyede, Avwerosuo Otorudo, and Chukwuebuka Ehirim.

The EFCC, in the motion argued by Yusuf, sought the court’s approval to detain the promoters pending the conclusion of investigations into the alleged offences and their possible prosecution.

According to the agency, the defendants promised an unrealistic return on investment of up to the tune of 100 %.

Recently, CBEX users said they could no longer withdraw their funds from the platforms where many Nigerians had invested.

Angry investors who reportedly lost their money stormed CBEX offices in Oyo and other places, demanding their money.
