The Federal Government has declared Friday, March 30 and Monday, April 2, as public holidays to enable Nigerians celebrate Good Friday as well as Easter Monday.
Minister of Interior, Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), made the announcement in a statement by the Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Julie Nkiru Ejiofor.
He said: “The Federal Government has declared Friday, 30th March and Monday 2nd April, as public holidays to mark the Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively.
“The Honourable Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (rtd.), who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, enjoined Christian faithful and Nigerians in general to employ the spiritual ethos of Easter, which include love, peace, and sacrifice, in contributing to the unity and peaceful coexistence of Nigerians.
“Dambazau also urged Nigerians to remain supportive of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts at building a peaceful, united and prosperous nation.
“He implored all Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the peace and unity of the country.”
“The Honourable Minister wishes all Nigerians a Happy Easter celebration,” Ejiofor said.
