#EasingTheLockdown: It Will Not Be Business As Usual – Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that even though the lockdown in the state will be eased, however, it will not be business as usual as whistleblowing channel will be unveiled to report organisations that flout the new directives.

He announced the update in a series of tweets late Wednesday night, April 29.

According to the governor:

“Even as we begin #EasingTheLockdown, it will not be business as usual so we are unveiling a whistle blowing channel to report organisations that flout the new directives. Whistleblowers will be guaranteed full protection and their identities would be kept strictly confidential.

“We are also inaugurating a committee with representatives from NURTW, RTEAN, Private Transport Operators, Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, Manufacturing Association of Nigeria(MAN) and all the Lagos state ministries responsible.

“This committee will be charged with the responsibility of communicating, to their members, the framework on the controlled easing of the lockdown so that we can all fully understand what is expected from us.

“Let us remember that we are in unprecedented times; which call for unprecedented responses. We will have to adjust our behaviour in ways that will be painful and uncomfortable. Let us see these adjustments as a small price to pay to guarantee victory over an unrelenting enemy.

“I want to specially thank everyone who has donated to the Lagos state #COVID19 Response, by way of cash, medical equipment and other essential materials. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

There will be a curfew from 8pm to 6am. This means we expect all Lagosians to stay in their homes during the curfew. Furthermore, there is also a ban on interstate travel at this time. This means no one will be allowed in and out of Lagos till further notice.”
