Doyin Okupe Resigned On Personal Grounds – Yunusa

Yunusa has said Peter Obi’s campaign DG, Doyin Okupe resigned on personal grounds.

Glamtush reports that the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council Spokesman, Yunusa Tanko, has said that Doyin Okupe resigned as campaign Director-General of the Labour Party (LP) flag-bearer on personal grounds.

This online platform understands that Tanko disclosed this to Daily Post in a telephone interview on Tuesday.

According to him, Okupe believes that the interest of ‘Obidients’ across the world supersedes his.

He says, “Doyin Okupe resigned on his ground. He believes that the ‘Obidient movement’ supersedes every other interest. He has decided; the Labour Party’s executive would take the decision the way forward”.

It was learnt that Okupe’s action came hours after the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council demanded immediate resignation on Tuesday.

On Monday, the embattled Director General of the Obi-Datti campaign was convicted of breaching the Money Laundering Act by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

The LP chieftain was subsequently sentenced to two years in prison.

But the presiding judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, gave an option of N500,000 a fine on each of the 26 count charges, totalling N13m for which he was found guilty.

The former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan opted to pay a fine of N13 million to beat the 4:30 pm deadline.
