Nigerian Disk Jockey, Florence Otedola also known as DJ Cuppy, and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Kiddwaya, are set to feature in an upcoming British documentary reality series, ‘Highlife’.
In an announcement made on Channel 4’s official website on Friday, cast members of the reality series includes DJ Cuppy, Kiddawaya, Toni Tone, Kamille, Tomi, Chieferdcypha Bussdown King, Bernicia Boateng, and Irene Agbontaen.
The four-part series slated to premiere on September 10 is produced by Channel 4 and co-produced by CR8TIVE ROW and Optomen.
Described as first of its kind, the Black British premium docu-ality series, “follows the lives and loves of a group of ambitious, glamourous young Nigerian Brits all chasing their own idea of success. Showcasing a community where high family expectations often impact career choices, relationships and even friendship groups.”
The series is further described as “an aspirational and authentic portrayal of British life through a totally distinct but utterly relatable lens.”
Vivianne Molokwu, Channel 4’s Commissioning Editor for Factual Entertainment said the series was “an exciting opportunity to portray young Black Britain without a gun or gang in sight.”
“This confident new series will look different both in front of and behind the camera whilst still reflecting the highs and lows of life in a way we can all relate to,” she continued.
“I’m so excited to announce I’m part of the brand-new docu-ality series Highlife, starting Friday 10th September at 10pm on prime time @channel4. It’s the first show of its kind in British history and it promises to deliver on jaw-dropping original content,” he wrote.
