Glamtush reports that dignitaries converged at a service of songs held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Church, Imola Street, Owo, in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, in honour of the late governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, who died last December in Germany.
This online newspaper gathered that the service of song was organised as part of the funeral arrangements for the late governor, and it was attended by dignitaries from across the country.
The Bishop of Owo Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev. Stephen Fagbemi, who paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Governor during the service, described him as not only a governor but also as a visionary leader who was passionate about the things of God.
The bishop stated that Akeredolu has left a big shoe that will be very difficult to fill in the diocese, the state, and the nation at large, and prayed to God to grant the family the strength to bear the loss.
In his brief exhortation, Most Reverend Simeon Borokini, the Anglican Bishop of Akure Diocese and Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical Province, said Akeredolu served the people of the state well and urged everyone to always do good in whatever position they occupy.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the late governor’s younger brother, Prof. Wole Akeredolu, expressed gratitude on behalf of the family to Nigerians and the people of the state for their support and love for the late Akeredolu.
The Service of Songs was attended by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Deputy Governor, Mr. Adelami Olayide; Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Salifu Joel Oyibo; Minister of State for Youth Development, Olawande Ayodele; and Justice Hellen Ogunwumiju, Justice of the Supreme Court.
