Dangerous Affairs (Relaciones Peligrosas) will be premiering soon on Telemundo. The telenovela will focus on less popular subjects in Africa like lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issue down to some of the more familiar rebellious teenage issues that most parents irrespective of cultural beliefs go through on a daily basis.
The telenovela presents the story of a young woman, Miranada Cruz, played by Sandra Echeverría who begins her career as a professor in the city of Miami at a high school specialized in the arts. However, one fateful night changes everything in her life. Mauricio played by Gabriel Coronel, one of her students, comes to her rescue one fateful night and this sparks a relationship between them that turns into an affair. But, what seemed to be the beginning of a promising future for Miranda becomes an uncertain one when a completely unexpected twist will force her to choose between reason and her heart’s desires. This becomes a problem for everyone and with dangerous consequences.
Miranda is not the only one who will be faced with a difficult situation; everyone around her is living through difficult situations as real as life itself. Through turbulent relationships among adolescents, parents and teachers, Dangerous Affairs will take us to a world where love relationships, desires and passion that are prohibited, discriminated or judged could turn into a true nightmare.
The series is set at a bilingual, multicultural performing arts high school in Miami called Cervantes Academy School of Arts and it tackles class, race, taboo, sexual relationships and LGBT teens. The students, teachers and parents are part of the drama with a secret affair at the center of their world: an affair between a teacher and a student who’s 10 years younger than her and underage.
Things take a similar turn for other characters too, most notably Alejandro “Ale” Portillo (played by Puerto Rican actor Kevin Aponte) who gets targeted for being gay. Ale is a frequent target of bullying along with his black Haitian-Dominican classmate, Cassius.
Dangerous Affairs parades young cast who will be adding a lot of flavour to the already very intriguing plot. They include Sandra Echeverría (Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders) Gabriel Coronel (Husband for hire), Gonzalo Garcia Vivanco (A Passion for revenge), Christian de la Campa (Passion for Revenge), Ana Layevska ((My Heart Beats for Lola) and many others.
The question is what will finally become of Miranada and Mauricio’s relationship especially when love becomes a nightmare? Expect a lot of intrigues and suspensions.
Dangerous Affairs is set to replace ‘The Son I never knew’ and it premiers on Monday, June 12 at 17h10.
