Court Arraign Corps Member, One Other For Alleged Love Scam
A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, on Monday arraigned a corps member in Kogi State, Sam Abiola, and one Adebiyi Sodiq for alleged love scam.
The Ilorin Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), arraigned Abiola on one count charge, while four counts were against Sodiq.
The accused persons pleaded guilty to the charge filed against them.
Justice Adenike Akinpelu fixed February 11, for judgment
According to the EFCC, Sam Abiola sometime between July and September 2019, cheated by impersonation, when he pretended to be one Missie Bonie.
The offence was contrary to Section 321 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 324 of the same law.
For Sodiq aka Maria Monica, sometime in August 2020, he cheated by impersonation via the email address terrellwhite856@gmail.com.
“On one Manny via his phone number, by portraying yourself as a white female named Maria and induced him to send you his Cash App,” one of the charges read.
