Coronavirus Pandemic: Buhari Orders Immediate Lockdown Of Lagos, Abuja, Ogun

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the lockdown of Lagos, Abuja, and Ogun to contain the spread of coronavirus.

He said the restriction was to curb the transmission of the coronavirus in the states, where it is prevalence. He announced the lockdown of the three states during a nationwide broadcast on Sunday evening.

”Based on the advice of the Federal Ministry of Health and the NCDC, I am directing the cessation of all movements in Lagos and the FCT for an initial period of 14 days with effect from 11 pm on Monday, 30th March 2020,” he said.

”This restriction will also apply to Ogun State due to its close proximity to Lagos and the high traffic between the two States.”

Note that Lagos has the highest number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Nigeria.
