Glamtush reports that the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), has tackled the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, over his recent allegations against the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
Recall that the Minister, who addressed the media on Tuesday in Washington DC, accused the LP candidate and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, of inciting violence over the outcome of the February 25 poll, saying it is treasonable.
Reacting, COSEYL, in a statement issued by its President-General, Goodluck Ibem, claimed that Obi and Datti were innocent of the allegations.
The coalition described the allegations as hate speech, stressing that the Minister wanted to cause a crisis in the country.
“It is laughable that a man of Lai Mohammed’s standing, who is supposed to portray the good image of the Nigerian state outside the nation, is de-marketing his own country just for his own selfish political benefits and that of his political party the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Lai Mohammed has committed an international crime in Washington DC and should be arrested immediately and properly investigated and probed.
“A situation where an image maker of a nation like Nigeria says going to court to seek redress is a treasonable offense and an insurrection speaks volumes of what Nigerians are passing through in Nigeria.”
