My Best Friend Stopped Talking To Me Because I Slept With Her Brother

Dear Angela,

Sussy and I have been best friends since our childhood days. But our friendship ended the day she found out that I slept with her elder brother. Although he is not married but he has a baby mama and obviously she wants him to marry the lady.

I knew that he has always liked me, I like him too but I never led him on because of my best friend. He told me he wished things were different as he is deeply in love with me.

One evening, he came to my house and before we both knew it, we had slept together. While we were talking about why it shouldn’t have happened, there was a knock on the door. When I opened the door, it was his sister. Immediately she stepped into the house and saw her brother, she suspected something had just happened and without saying a word, she turned and left. I have been calling her for weeks but she’s not picking up my calls neither is she replying my text messages. I made a huge mistake and I regret it ever since.

Even when I visit their house, she’s hardly around. Her brother has repeatedly asked me not to worry my head because she’s behaving like a spoiled child.

I don’t want to lose my best friend as we have come a long way. We have been friends for over 20 years; we do lots of things together. The truth is that I miss her so much. What else should I do?

Dear Emily

Your friend has every right to be angry. And that is because first, she feels betrayed and second, she feels you have broken her trust. Honestly, if roles were reversed, what would you do? I will suggest you give your best friend some time and space since it’s obvious she doesn’t want any form of contact with you right now. She may come around later!
