Glamtush reports that Ademola Lookman has been named among the 10 best-performing Serie A players in the opening ten rounds of the 2024/25 season due to his consistent top-draw performances for Atalanta.
As reported by Fantacalcio and cited by Football Italia on Friday, the Nigeria forward is ranked 6th with 6.64, with Fiorentina goalkeeper David de Gea in pole position with 6.86 points according to a ranking based on average player ratings from Italian sports papers, considering footballers with at least 50% of league appearances.
Lookman’s Atalanta teammate Mateo Retegui, the current top scorer in Serie A, is second with 6.75 points, while Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram, the second-best scorer in the league, is ranked third with 6.7 points.
Nico Paz (Como) 6.67, Milinkovic-Savic (Torino) 6.67, Nuno Tavares (Lazio) 6.62, Barella (Inter) 6.57, Meret (Napoli) 6.57, Christian Pulisic (Milan) 6.56, and Castellanos (Lazio) 6.56 complete the pile.
Lookman, 27, who ended up in 14th position in the Ballon d’Or rankings, has followed up on his remarkable last season’s campaign with scintillating performances this term, making seven appearances overall and accumulating 431 minutes of playing time.
He has started in six of these appearances across their 10 fixtures and been used as a substitute on one occasion.
He last featured in a league game on October 30, playing 45 minutes for Atalanta versus Monza in a 2-0 success, and has scored four Serie A goals, including a brace in their 6-1 home thumping of Verona on October 26, which is tied for the sixth most by a player in the competition, whilst he also ranks joint second for Serie A assists having set up four goals for his team-mates.
