Glamtush reports that the Zamfara State Police Command has arrested three persons who allegedly collected N2.5m ransom after killing a six-year-old child they abducted.
This online newspaper understands that addressing a press conference in Gusau, the state capital, the spokesperson of the state police command, Mohammed Shehu, said the suspects – Kabiru Idi, Danhauwa Kalla and Majami Iliya – kidnapped six-year-old Laminu Sani of the Bulunku area in Gusau town and demanded payment for a ransom.
After collecting the sum of N2.5m, the suspects did not release the child and it was discovered that he was killed.
Shehu said, “On 3rd November 2022, police detectives attached to Anti-Violence Squad arrested the suspects in connection with the kidnapping and suspected murder of a six years old child, Laminu Sani, ‘M’ of Bulunku area, Gusau.
“Their arrest followed a complaint from one Sani Garba who reported to the police that one of the suspects, Kabiru Idi of Yarkatsina village, in the Bungudu LGA rented a room in his house and stayed for a period of three months.
“During his stay in the house he (Idi) conspired with his collaborators and kidnapped Garba’s child, Laminu, with a view to collecting ransom from the father.
“The sum of N2.5m was given to them, not knowing that they have already killed the kidnapped child.
“In the course of investigation, all the suspects confessed to the crime and further explained their role in the kidnapping of the child.”
Shehu said the victims would soon be arraigned in court for justice to take its course.
