Kwara governor has appointed a 7-member committee to rebuild the community after the massacre.
Glamtush reports that Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the appointment of a seven-member committee to interface with the Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area over humanitarian support following the recent deadly attack.
The appointment was contained in a statement issued in Ilorin on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye.
The statement reads, “In line with the humanitarian support earlier announced by the Governor, His Excellency has approved the appointment of a seven-person committee to engage with the Woro community.”
“The committee would serve as a direct link between the state government and the affected community,” the statement added.
According to the statement, “The chairman of the committee is Hon. Ahmed Kiwozi, a former lawmaker from Kaiama Local Government Area.”
It added that other members of the committee include the vice chairman of the Local Government Council, Mrs Aisha Abubakar Sadiq, and Alhaji Abubakar Mora.
The statement further listed the Woro Village Head, Alhaji Umar Bio Saliu, as well as a representative of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), as members of the panel.
It also noted that the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is represented on the committee, alongside a female representative of the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
The statement explained that the committee has been given four weeks to carry out its assignment and report back to the state government.
“The committee will interface with community leaders on rebuilding efforts, assess the areas of need of survivors, and address other outstanding issues arising from the attack.”
“The setting up of the committee underscores the commitment of the Kwara State Government to supporting affected communities and ensuring a coordinated humanitarian response,” the statement added.
