1. The wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, has ruled out the possibility of her husband joining the 2027 presidential race to contest against President Bola Tinubu. Mrs Jonathan said rather than contest, her family would campaign for Tinubu’s re-election because Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi, supported Jonathan’s 2011 presidential bid.

2. Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has stated that he is not desperate to return to office, revealing that his “spirit left the Government House long ago.” Fubara, however, acknowledged the immense support he had received from many people and emphasized the importance of standing by those who have made sacrifices for him.

3. The Peoples Democratic Party is set to inaugurate newly appointed members of its Board of Trustees today (Monday) in Abuja. This development was disclosed in a circular signed by the PDP’s Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom.

4. The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has refuted claims by oil marketers that the facility does not have the capacity to meet local fuel demand. Officials of the refinery clarified at the weekend that the facility has enough fuel to satisfy local needs and export to other countries.

5. Bayelsa State Police Command said it has arrested 17 suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of two graduates of the Bayelsa State-owned Nigeria Delta University at Gbarantoru community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state. The suspects were arrested by men of the Rapid Response Squad, headed by one CSP Bishop Elemide, who mounted a stop and search operation along Amassoma road on Friday night.

6. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency intercepted a 22-year-old British national, Campell Slifer, at the weekend at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with two suitcases containing 35 parcels of Loud, a potent cannabis strain, weighing 37.6kg.

7. In a move aimed at addressing the gale of defections and internal crisis rocking it, governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Sunday, met with former governors and other party stakeholders to strategise on its survival and forge a common front ahead of the 2027 general election. The meeting was held in Abuja.

8. The Nigerian Army has arrested no fewer than 12 members of the breakaway Boko Haram insurgents known as Mahmuda. The group recently occupied the Kanji Lake National Park. The group had allegedly maimed, exploited, terrorised and took advantage of residents of neighbouring border communities in Baruten and Kaiama local government areas of Kwara and Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

9. Seventy-eight of the 150 young Nigerian women trafficked to Cote D’Ivoire for sex slavery have arrived in Lagos aboard Air Peace flight. They comprised 75 females between ages 13 and 30, three babies and two adult males with the majority of them looking malnourished and battered.

10. At least 23 persons have reportedly been killed in a series of coordinated attacks across four Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Benue State. The affected LGAs include Guma, Logo, Ukum, and Kwande. Residents told our correspondent that the latest wave of attacks has forced many to flee their communities, as the attacks had become too frequent.
