IDC has thrown its weight behind NDLM and warned against political contractor aiding Chevron for the oppression of the Itsekiri people.
In a recent press briefing, the Itsekiri Defense Council (IDC) expressed full support for the Niger Delta Liberation Movement (NDLM), particularly in their efforts to combat the ongoing oppression of the Itsekiri people.
General Iwedundun Akpakpa, the esteemed leader of IDC, delivered a powerful message on November 28 in Warri North, denouncing the consistent mistreatment faced by the Itsekiri community.
General Akpakpa commended NDLM for their dedication to addressing the plight of the Itsekiri people and vowed unwavering loyalty towards the organization. He emphasized IDC’s commitment to providing both intelligence and logistical support to NDLM in their endeavors.
Moreover, General Akpakpa issued a stern warning against any political contractors allegedly collaborating with Chevron to further oppress the Itsekiri populace. He made it clear that such actions would not be tolerated, threatening severe repercussions for those involved. General Akpakpa emphasized that the advancement and well-being of the Itsekiri and Warri Kingdom must not be compromised by the selfish agendas of corrupt politicians.
Also speaking The group’s (IDC) secretary, Mr. Amorighoye B. Aboyowa, specifically cautioned against any political contractor assisting Chevron in what they perceive as the oppression of the Itsekiri people by making publication to condemn the act by NDLM.
Mr. Aboyowa went further to warn against individuals who may be seeking personal gain by maligning the NDLM, labeling them as unwelcome within the kingdom. The IDC emphasized that the Itsekiri community will no longer tolerate any form of mistreatment or exploitation from Chevron or any other entity, stressing the necessity for these corporations to address the grievances of Itsekiri youths to avoid further incidents of pipeline vandalism in the future.
General Iwedundun Akpakpa further declare all Chevron Nig Ltd Political contractors and supporters within warri kingdom as Perina non grata to the kingdom.
This call to action signifies a resolute stand taken by the Itsekiri people through the IDC, demanding accountability and fairness in their dealings with corporations operating within their territories.
