Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers.

1. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has described the nationwide mobilization for protests as unnecessary, ill-timed, and done in bad taste. According to him, in Kaduna State, they have committed themselves to rebuilding trust and making the state safe and secure.

2. The International Police Organisation (INTERPOL), on Monday, revealed that “hundreds of thousands of dollars” are being laundered out of Nigeria to other African countries and across the world every hour. The organisation also said money laundering across Africa and the entire world has assumed a monstrous dimension.

3. Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said while those seeking to protest have the right to do so, they do not have the right to destabilise the country. This is as he accused politicians who lost out during the last general elections of being behind the protest to take over the government through the backdoor.

4. Following public outcry, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has directed all mobile service operators to reactivate all lines that were disconnected over the weekend as the time duration given consumers to undertake the verification of their NINs with their SIMs was too short.

5. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the sale of crude oil to Dangote Refinery and other local refineries in naira instead of dollars. This was disclosed to State House reporters by the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Monday.

6. President Bola Tinubu has signed the new national minimum wage into law. Tinubu performed the ceremony during a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) he presided over at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday.

7. Chairmen of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have said they would not fold their arms and watch “undemocratic forces” overthrow the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the name of protest.

8. A large crowd of angry MTN subscribers in the early hours of Monday vandalised the telecommunications company’s office in the FESTAC Town area of Lagos State in response to the blocking of their mobile lines. In a viral video, the mob could be seen destroying a barricade fence just outside the MTN office.

9. Gunmen on Monday evening killed four police officers on a stop-and-search checkpoint along the Owerri-Onitsha road in Imo State. An eyewitness who claimed to be a resident of Irete in Owerri West Local Government Area of the state, said fear couldn’t allow him and others to ascertain how many civilians were also shot.

10. Soldiers attached to the Nkwagu Military Cantonment, on Monday, killed an armed robber on the Akpoha/Abaomege area of the Afikpo-Abakaliki Highway in the Onicha Local Government Area of the state. They also arrested three people said to have links with the hoodlums who allegedly terrorised motorists in the area.
