Here are seven things you should never wear to the gym especially if you are a newbie to the gym, so that you can make your workout more effective and efficient.

Makeup face

You have all day to wear makeup, so, no need to look all dulled up for the gym. If you’re going to the gym after office hours, ensure to take off all your makeup. You should know that if you work out and sweat with a face full of makeup on, dirt and oil will build up underneath your foundation, and this, in turn, will lead to breakouts in no time.

Jewelry

Before or immediately you hit the gym, it is advisable to take off any form of jewelry on your body. Instead opt for gym friendly accessories like fitness tracker, sweat-wicking headband and wrist straps

Gym clothes

You just don’t need to look good but also comfortable in your gym outfit. That’s why you must remember that the purpose of going to the gym is to exercise, so, you should take the kind of outfit you will wear into consideration.

You should avoid wearing cotton pieces outfits which can be a breeding ground for bacteria. Opt for breathable and lovely workout outfits like leggings, sports bras, tank tops and tops designed with sweat-wicking fabrics (Fabrics which draw away sweat from the body)

Regular bra

It is not advisable to wear your regular everyday bra to the gym. That’s because it does not provide the necessary support while working out. Instead, put on a good sports bra that has a good fit, unbeatable comfort and hold. They come in a variety striking colours and designs.

Baggy clothes

Never wear baggy clothes to the gym as it will interfere with your workout. Also, if you have a personal trainer or instructor, the person needs to see your body in fitted clothes in order to assess it properly. You should select pieces that are actually fits you and you feel amazing in as well.

Wrong gym shoes

You should endeavour to wear the right gym shoes. A good pair of shoes can either make or break your gym-going experience. Get a comfortable pair of sneakers/trainers. There is a wide range of designer sneakers which come in a variety of designs and colours that you can purchase at any gym shop.

Too-tight clothes

Never wear a clothing size that is too small or too tight as it can do more harm than good. Gym clothes should be tight but not so tight that it restricts your movement. For instance, wearing leggings that makes it difficult or impossible for you to bend over or top that makes it impossible for you to raise your hands over your head.
