It is advisable to keep your current bank account to maintain your credit score and make direct payments for any bills or outstanding loans. At the same time, inform your bank of your travel dates, and consider getting an international credit card to avoid foreign transaction fees. You should also research banks in your new city and find out what paperwork you will need to set up a savings or checking account.
