3 Easy Homemade Onion Juice Remedies To Get Rid Of Dandruff

 

 

If you’re battling with dandruff, one kitchen staple you can use as a home remedy for dandruff and hair loss is onion juice. Are you surprised? Onion does more than just add flavour to our food.

Even if you do not suffer dandruff related problems, you can use onion juice remedy to keep dandruff at bay. And one of the easiest ways to boost your hair growth is by using onion juice as a serum.

Onion juice which can easily be juiced in the comfort of your kitchen helps get rid of dandruff. The rich sulphur content in onions minimizes hair thinning and nourishes hair follicles. While it’s antibacterial content treats dandruff and other scalp infections while the antioxidants present in onion juice reverse premature greying of hair.

Below are three ways you can incorporate onions into your hair care regime to help treat dandruff as well as aid hair growth. The good part is that you can Do-It-Yourself (DIY).

Onion Juice

Onion juice is extracted from raw onions, which is a concentrated solution and used on the scalp. To make the juice, cut one large size onion and then blend. Strain the mixture and extract the juice. Pour into a bowl and soak with a cotton ball. Use it to rub your scalp thoroughly. Ensure it covers your scalp completely and leave the onion juice for 20-30 minutes before you rinse off with a mild shampoo. You can also use your hand to massage the juice thoroughly into your scalp.

For a fast result, do this 1-2 times a week depending on how serious the problem is.

Onion juice and lemon

To remove dandruff, make a blend of lemon juice with onion juice. The lemon juice will help reduce the smell of the onions as it works on dandruff and also calms itching scalp.

Combine 3 tablespoons of onion juice with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and mix properly. Then apply directly on your scalp and leave for 10-15 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with water.

However, if you have sensitive or dry scalp, it is advisable not to add lemon juice as it is not for suitable for your scalp type.

Onion juice and olive oil

Olive oil is another effective agent for removing dandruff as the fatty acids in olive oil can dissolve white flakes on your scalp, along with controlling the production of excess oil. So combining it with onion juice which is an anti-dandruff agent will simply work wonders on your scalp.

Add 3 tablespoons of olive oil with two tablespoons of onion juice in a bowl and mix properly together. Apply the mixture to your scalp and massage for 5 minutes. Then leave it on for another 15 minutes. Wash off with mild shampoo and rinse hair thoroughly with water.

The process can be done twice a week.
