Glamtush reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the winner of the Edo State gubernatorial election held on Saturday, September 21.

The official announcement was made on Sunday by the election’s Returning Officer, Prof. Faruq Adamu Kuta, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, at the INEC collation center in Benin City.

Prof. Kuta reported that Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes, claiming victory in 11 of the state’s 18 local government areas (LGAs).

Ighodalo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) came in second with 247,274 votes, while Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) finished third with 22,763 votes.
